The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has invited public comments on a proposal by Indian Oil Adani Gas Private Limited for laying a 125 mm diameter MDPE natural gas pipeline along and across NH-709AD in Panipat district, Haryana.

The invitation of public comments was issued by the NHAI Project Implementation Unit, Baghpat, on Thursday, 7 May.

According to the notice, Indian Oil Adani Gas Private Limited has submitted a proposal seeking permission to lay the 125 mm diameter MDPE natural gas pipeline along and across NH-709AD from Chainage 10.300 to Chainage 11.400 on the left-hand side and right-hand side, from Chainage 12.700 to Chainage 13.800 on the right-hand side, and for crossing at Chainage 11.400.

The proposal has been submitted for the development of a city gas distribution network in Panipat district.

NHAI said that, as per the submitted proposal and checklist, the pipeline alignment would be beyond the toe line of the embankment and drains at the extreme edge of the right of way, using the Horizontal Directional Drilling method only.

The notice said it must be ensured that no damage is caused to the highway while laying or maintaining the pipeline and that the work does not disrupt traffic on the highway.

It further said that if there is any cross road or approach road connecting the highway, or any building or structure on the route, the laying work at that location should be done only through the Horizontal Directional Drilling method. In the case of crossings, the work should also be executed strictly through the HDD method.

NHAI said the application is being put in the public domain for 30 days to seek claims and objections on grounds of public inconvenience, safety and general public interest, as per guidelines issued by the Ministry through office memorandum dated 22 November 2016.

Public comments on the application have been invited at the address of the Project Director, National Highways Authority of India, Project Implementation Unit, Baghpat, Friends Colony, Near PWD Guest House, Baraut Road, District Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh — 250609.

The notice said comments should reach the office within 30 days from the date of publication, after which no comments will be entertained.
