Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday, 4 May, reviewed a series of proposed high-speed, high-density, and other key National Highway corridor projects in Maharashtra, focusing on accelerating execution and strengthening regional connectivity.
The review meeting covered multiple major highway stretches across the state, including six-laning of the Nagpur-Bhandara section and the Bhandara-Raipur section, along with four-laning of the Taloda-Burhanpur stretch.
Several strategic corridor projects were also discussed, including the Durg-Gadchiroli-Mancherial corridor, Gadchiroli-Kanker (Raipur-Vizag) corridor, Gwalior-Nagpur corridor, and the Nagpur-Hyderabad corridor.
Other key projects reviewed included the Lakhnadon-Durg-Raipur corridor, six-laning of the Nagpur-Amravati section, the Madhya Pradesh-Maharashtra Border-Nagpur Bypass-Borkhedi stretch on NH-44, and six-laning of the Pune-Satara section.
The meeting also included discussions on nine State Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) projects covering a total length of 527 Km on National Highway stretches in Maharashtra.
These include the Shirur-Ahilyanagar, Ahilyanagar-Wadala, Wadala-Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-Jalna, Jalna-Watur, Nanded-Narsi-Deglur, Jam-Warora, Warora-Chandrapur-Bamni, and Malkapur-Chikhli corridors, involving a mix of four-lane and two-lane upgrades.
The review focused on accelerating project planning and execution to improve connectivity and support economic development in Maharashtra.
