Hindustan Construction Company (HCC), as part of a joint venture, has secured a ₹2,917 crore water infrastructure contract from CIDCO, involving a 22.21 Km raw water tunnel and a 250 million litres per day (MLD) treatment plant in Maharashtra’s Raigad district.
The project has been awarded to the LCESPL-HCC joint venture, with HCC’s share of work estimated at around ₹1,100 crore, according to a statement by the company on Friday, 24 April.
At the core of the project is a 22.21 Km tunnel to be executed using Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) technology, designed to transport raw water from Kondhane Dam in Karjat to a proposed treatment facility at Mohope in Panvel.
The scope of the work also includes the design, construction, supply, testing and commissioning of a 250 MLD water treatment plant, along with 15 years of operation and maintenance under a Design, Build and Operate (DBO) model.
The project is part of CIDCO’s broader strategy to strengthen long-term water supply infrastructure for Navi Mumbai and surrounding growth nodes, where demand is rising due to rapid urban expansion and industrial activity.
HCC, with nearly a century of engineering experience, has executed major infrastructure projects across hydropower, nuclear energy, highways, tunnelling, and bridges, and continues to serves the infrastructure sectors of transportation, power and water.
