Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday (3 May) announced that the Delhi Metro was preparing to take up seven new corridors under Phase 5B of its expansion, covering a total length of around 97 km.
The announcement was made during the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s 32nd Foundation Day event held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
“On the occasion of the 32nd Foundation Day of Delhi Metro, I would like to share this good news with the people of Delhi, that the Delhi Metro is starting preparations for seven new corridors under Phase 5B of expansion,” Gupta said.
According to details shared by DMRC, the proposed Phase 5B corridors included Dhansa Bus Stand (Najafgarh) to Nangloi spanning 11.859 Km with 9 stations; Central Secretariat to Kishangarh covering 15.969 Km with 10 stations; Samaypur Badli to Narela DDA Sports Complex at 12.890 Km with 8 stations; Kirti Nagar to Palam at 9.967 Km with 6 stations; Jor Bagh to Mithapur extending 16.991 Km with 12 stations; Mayur Vihar Phase III to Shastri Park covering 13.197 Km with 8 stations; and Keshav Puram to Rohini Sector-34 spanning 16.285 Km with 12 stations.
The total proposed network under Phase 5B stands at 97.158 Km with 65 stations.
Gupta also noted that work is continuously in progress for Delhi Metro’s Phase IV and V (A) corridors, while two corridors had recently been dedicated to the city and foundation stones laid for three additional corridors.
The development forms part of Delhi Metro’s ongoing expansion programme aimed at improving connectivity across the national capital, particularly in outer and developing areas.
