Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday, 21 May, reviewed the quality and maintenance progress of 11,672 Km of National Highway projects in Uttar Pradesh, following feedback received through media and social media.
The review meeting was held in New Delhi and was attended by Union Ministers of State Ajay Tamta and Harsh Malhotra, along with officials from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and project contractors.
According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the review focused on the condition, quality and maintenance progress of the National Highway network in Uttar Pradesh.

During the meeting, Gadkari emphasised the need for timely execution, strict adherence to quality standards and the use of advanced technologies to build sustainable and efficient highway infrastructure.
He said robust road networks are critical for improving connectivity, supporting economic growth and making travel more convenient for commuters.
The minister also directed officials to ensure comprehensive monsoon preparedness across the network.
He asked officials to implement preventive measures and establish effective response mechanisms to maintain road safety and durability during the monsoon season.
The review comes ahead of the monsoon period, when highway maintenance, drainage, road surface quality and quick-response systems become key areas of focus for transport authorities and contractors.
