Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, 10 May, laid the foundation stone, inaugurated and dedicated to the nation multiple development projects worth around ₹9,400 crore in Hyderabad, Telangana, calling it a major push towards better infrastructure and seamless connectivity across the state.

Addressing a gathering in Hyderabad, the Prime Minister said the projects would strengthen Telangana’s connectivity, support manufacturing and create thousands of new employment opportunities.

He highlighted Hyderabad’s transformational significance as a centre of both national and global importance and said the region would play a major role in the rapid development of Telangana and the country.

Modi said India was moving on the “Reforms Express” while also building modern infrastructure across sectors. He described the Zaheerabad Industrial Area as an important part of the Centre’s mission to develop industrial corridors across the country.

The Zaheerabad Industrial Area is being developed as an industrial smart city with world-class infrastructure, power supply and advanced ICT networks. The Prime Minister said the project would provide facilities needed by global investors to set up operations in the region.

He said the industrial area would create employment pathways for thousands of young people in Telangana and Hyderabad. Referring to the expected industrial activity in the zone, Modi said vehicles, machinery and food processing industries established there would benefit Telangana’s workers and farmers.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the PM MITRA Park in Warangal, saying it would accelerate the country’s textile revolution.

He said India’s textile industry had played a major role when the country was a major global economy and added that the government was now working to strengthen that legacy again.

Modi said units operating in the textile park would benefit from Union Government schemes, including the Production Linked Incentive scheme. He said the textile park would create employment for a large number of people, especially women.

The Hyderabad programme also included major road, rail and energy infrastructure projects. The Prime Minister said modern connectivity had remained a major priority for the Government of India over the past 12 years, with unprecedented investment being made in roads, railways and airports.

He said nearly ₹1,75,000 crore had been allocated for National Highways development alone. Telangana, he said, had benefited from this national focus, with the state’s National Highway network doubling over the past 12 years.

Referring to the widening of the National Highway connecting Telangana and Karnataka, Modi said the project would bring major convenience to people by reducing travel time and transportation costs.

The Prime Minister also pointed to the increase in railway investment for Telangana. He said that before 2014, the railway budget for undivided Andhra Pradesh was less than ₹1,000 crore, while Telangana’s present annual railway allocation was now more than ₹5,500 crore.

He said railway projects worth around ₹50,000 crore were currently under implementation in the state. Telangana is also being served by 5 Vande Bharat trains and 6 Amrit Bharat trains, he added.

During the event, select sections of the Kazipet-Vijayawada Multi-Tracking Project were inaugurated and the Kazipet Rail Under Bypass Line was dedicated to the nation. Modi said these facilities would make travel easier and speed up transportation.

The Prime Minister also dedicated Indian Oil’s new terminal at Malkapur, calling it a strategic step towards strengthening India’s energy security. He said the terminal would meet Telangana’s growing energy needs and strengthen the supply chain.

Speaking on energy security, Modi said the importance of reliable energy supply was being felt across the world. He said the Union Government was making unprecedented investments to secure India’s energy future.

He also referred to India’s progress in solar power generation, ethanol blending, LPG coverage, piped natural gas and CNG-based systems. Modi said such measures had helped India face the global energy crisis more effectively.

At the same time, he called for careful use of imported energy products. He said energy should be used according to genuine need to save foreign currency and reduce the adverse impact of global war-related crises.

The Prime Minister said Telangana’s youth, farmers, industries, MSMEs and startups were central to the state’s development journey. He said the development of Telangana was directly linked to the development of India.

Assuring continued support from the Centre, Modi said the Government of India would keep working to fulfil the aspirations of people across Telangana. “Because if Telangana develops, then India will develop,” he said.

The projects, according to the release, mark a major push towards better infrastructure, stronger industrial capacity, improved transportation and energy security across Telangana.
