Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 594 Km long Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh on 29 April, marking a major expansion of high-speed road infrastructure in the state.

The access-controlled greenfield corridor has been developed at a total cost of around ₹36,230 crore and is designed as a 6-lane expressway, expandable to 8 lanes.

The project spans 12 districts – Meerut, Bulandshahr, Hapur, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj – creating a seamless high-speed link between Western, Central and Eastern Uttar Pradesh.

The expressway is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj from the current 10-12 hours to approximately 6 hours, improving long-distance connectivity and freight movement efficiency.

A key feature of the project is a 3.5 Km-long Emergency Landing Facility in Shahjahanpur district, enabling aircraft operations in emergencies and adding strategic value to the corridor.

Beyond connectivity, the Ganga Expressway will function as a major economic corridor, with Integrated Manufacturing and Logistic Corridors planned over approximately 2,635 hectares along its alignment.

The project is expected to reduce logistics costs, improve supply chain efficiency and enhance manufacturing competitiveness across the region.

Improved connectivity is also likely to provide farmers with better access to urban and export markets, supporting improved price realisation and strengthening rural incomes.

The corridor is expected to boost tourism, generate employment and unlock new economic opportunities across districts along the route.

The Ganga Expressway will also integrate with a wider expressway network in Uttar Pradesh, including the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Jewar Link Expressway and Farrukhabad Link Expressway, with proposed expansion planned from Meerut to Haridwar.

This expanding expressway grid is expected to strengthen high-speed connectivity across the state and support more balanced regional development.
