Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday, 29 June, reviewed the quality, maintenance and progress of 4,026 km of National Highway projects in Uttarakhand at a meeting in New Delhi.
The review was held after inputs were received through media and social media.
Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta, officials from the National Highways Authority of India, National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and contractors attended the meeting.
Gadkari shared details of the review in a post on X.
“Reviewed the Quality and Maintenance progress of 4,026 Km National Highway projects in Uttarakhand, following inputs received through media and social media, with Union MoS Shri Ajay Tamta Ji, NHAI, NHIDCL, MoRTH officials, and contractors in New Delhi today,” Gadkari wrote.

The meeting covered both the progress of ongoing works and the maintenance condition of National Highway projects in the state.
The minister said officials were asked to accelerate work on the ground and strengthen quality monitoring.
He also directed the use of modern construction practices to improve the life and riding quality of highway assets.
“Stressed accelerating on-ground works, tightening quality monitoring, and leveraging modern construction practices to enhance asset life, improve riding quality, and ensure seamless connectivity across key corridors,” he said.
The review also covered monsoon preparedness for National Highway stretches in Uttarakhand. Gadkari instructed officials to plan in advance for drainage, slope protection and response measures so that disruptions can be reduced during the rainy season.
“Instructed officials to undertake advance planning for the monsoon, including drainage management, slope protection, and quick-response mechanisms to minimise disruptions and ensure commuter safety,” Gadkari said.
