Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday, 4 July, reviewed construction progress at the Ahmedabad Bullet Train Station, part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor.

The minister visited the construction site and reviewed ongoing works at the station and associated infrastructure.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Railways, he also interacted with engineers and construction teams working on the project.

The Ahmedabad station is being developed on one of the key urban sections of India’s first high-speed rail corridor.

During the review, Vaishnaw noted that the Ahmedabad section involves complex engineering works, including multiple crossings over existing railway lines and flyovers.

He also assessed progress on the multi-storey station building and approach infrastructure.

Officials were directed to maintain the pace of execution for timely completion of the project.

The minister met engineers and construction teams at the site, enquired about their work, experience and well-being, and appreciated their efforts in carrying out the project.

According to the ministry, Vaishnaw commended the teams for maintaining the pace of construction and encouraged them to uphold standards of safety, quality and engineering execution.

The Ahmedabad Bullet Train Station is being developed as an integrated multimodal transport hub.

The station is planned to connect the bullet train facility with the conventional railway station, Metro and city bus services.

The ministry said the station’s design is inspired by Ahmedabad’s iconic Patang, or kite, reflecting the city’s cultural identity while incorporating modern infrastructure and passenger facilities.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor is India’s first bullet train project.

The wider corridor is being developed between Mumbai and Ahmedabad with 12 stations planned along the route.

The design of each station on the corridor is meant to reflect the spirit of the city in which it is being built.
