The upgraded Park Street Electric RSS supports uninterrupted power supply for Delhi Metro’s Airport Line, Violet Line and the upcoming Central Vista Metro Line.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has completed the relocation and reconstruction of the Park Street Receiving Sub Station as part of the Central Vista Project of the Government of India, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to key sections of the Delhi Metro network.

The Park Street RSS was originally commissioned in 2010 during Phase-2 of the Delhi Metro to supply power to the Airport Line and Line-6, also known as the Violet Line. The facility was dismantled during 2021-22 to facilitate construction work related to the Central Vista Project. Reconstruction of the substation began in 2023 on alternate land provided by the Central Public Works Department and was completed in December 2025.

DMRC stated that the new RSS has been planned keeping in view the power requirements of the upcoming Central Vista Metro Line from Indraprastha to R K Ashram Marg. All major electrical equipment from the original installation has been re-erected and commissioned, including 66 kV power transformers, 66 kV GIS panels, 33 kV panels, and 25 kV GIS panels.

The combined RSS will supply power to metro trains and stations on the Airport Line and the Violet Line. In addition, extra 25 kV feeders have been provided to meet the traction power needs of the Central Vista Metro Line being developed under the Phase-5A expansion project.

According to DMRC, the newly constructed facility incorporates an upgraded Substation Automation System, energy-efficient VRF air-conditioning, and LED lighting. Safety features include automatic fire protection systems for transformers and electrical panels, along with a fully addressable fire alarm system.

The RSS has been designed in accordance with green building standards, and certification has been applied for. A rooftop solar power system is also planned to enhance sustainability and reduce the carbon footprint of operations.

The completion of the Park Street RSS marks a key infrastructure milestone under the Central Vista Project, supporting reliable power supply for existing metro corridors and future expansion of the Delhi Metro network.
