Construction of the Anand Bullet Train Station has achieved significant progress, with slab casting across all three levels completed and major structural works now in place, according to the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL).
NHSRCL is the implementing agency for the 508-km Mumbai-Ahemedabad bullet train project, which is India’s first high-speed rail corridor.
According to a statement by NHSRCL on Monday, 13 April, structural steel work for the roof along with roof sheeting has been completed, while the external façade structure is also in place.
Lifts and escalators have already been installed at the station, with cladding and staircase finishing works currently in progress.
“Slab casting work at all three station levels is completed. Structural steel work of roof and roof sheeting work is completed. Structural steel work of external façade is completed. Lifts and escalators installed at station. Cladding and staircase finishing work in progress,” NHSRCL said in its update on Anand bullet train station’s progress.
The station, being developed as part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor, will stand at a height of 25.6 metres with a total built-up area of 44,073 square metres. It will feature three floors, two side platforms, and four tracks in between, and is being equipped with modern passenger amenities including ticketing and waiting areas, restrooms, retail spaces, information booths, and a nursery.
Drawing inspiration from Anand’s identity as the Milk Capital of India, the station’s façade and interior design reflect the fluid shape and colour of milk droplets.
Skylight provisions have also been incorporated in the roof and exterior sides for natural lighting within the station premises.
Passenger pick-up and drop-off and parking facilities are planned adjacent to the station building for cars, two wheelers, autos and buses, along with dedicated pedestrian plaza space.
The nearest railway station will be Uttarsanda, located around 600 metres east of the site, while the nearest major station will be Nadiad Junction, located around 10 Km away.
The nearest airport will be Vadodara Airport at 54 Km, while Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad is located around 70 Km from the station.
The under-construction station is being developed as a multimodal hub with integration across transport modes for faster and more seamless connectivity.
