India’s net GST revenue rises 7.1% to ₹19.34 lakh crore in FY26, gross collections up 8.3% at ₹22.27 lakh crore

India’s gross GST collections for the financial year 2025-26 stood at ₹22,27,096 crore, while net GST revenue reached ₹19,34,766 crore, registering growth of 8.3% and 7.1% respectively over the previous financial year, according to provisional data released by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).

For the month of March 2026, gross GST collections stood at ₹2,00,064 crore, registering a growth of 8.8% compared to ₹1,83,845 crore in March 2025.

The increase was driven by higher domestic revenues as well as strong import-related collections.

Gross domestic GST revenue rose to ₹1,46,202 crore in March 2026, up 5.9% from ₹1,38,106 crore in the same month last year.

Revenue from imports showed sharper growth, with gross import GST collections rising to ₹53,861 crore, marking a 17.8% increase over ₹45,739 crore recorded in March 2025.

In terms of tax components, Integrated GST (IGST) collections rose significantly to ₹1,06,246 crore from ₹95,810 crore a year ago, while Central GST (CGST) increased to ₹40,549 crore and State GST (SGST) to ₹53,268 crore.

Refunds also saw a notable rise during the month.

Total GST refunds stood at ₹22,074 crore in March 2026, up 13.8% from ₹19,400 crore in March 2025. Domestic refunds grew 31.2% to ₹14,860 crore, while refunds related to imports declined 10.6% to ₹7,214 crore.

After accounting for refunds, net GST revenue for March 2026 stood at ₹1,77,990 crore, reflecting a growth of 8.2% over ₹1,64,445 crore in March 2025.

Net domestic revenue rose to ₹1,31,343 crore, up 3.6% year-on-year, while net revenue from customs (GST on imports) increased sharply by 23.8% to ₹46,647 crore.
