UDAN Yatri Cafes have now expanded to 13 airports across India, as the government moves to provide affordable food and beverage options for air travellers.

The initiative is aimed at improving the airport experience by offering quality refreshments at pocket-friendly prices.

Items such as tea are priced at ₹10, while snacks are available from ₹20, making airport food more accessible to passengers.

The UDAN Yatri Cafe concept was first launched on 19 December 2024 at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata.

The initiative was introduced to address the issue of expensive food at airports and provide affordable alternatives for travellers.

Since then, the network of UDAN Yatri Cafes has gradually expanded across several major airports in the country.

At present, the cafes are operational at Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Vijayawada, Hollongi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Surat, Mumbai, Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore, Trivandrum and Mangaluru airports.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation said the initiative is driven by the vision of Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu to make aviation services more affordable and passenger-friendly.

The cafes are designed to provide clean, hygienic and reasonably priced refreshments to passengers, helping reduce the high cost of food typically associated with airport terminals.

“UDAN Yatri Cafes are expanding rapidly across India! Driven by the vision of Hon’ble Civil Aviation Minister Sh. Ram Mohan Naidu Ji to make aviation more affordable and passenger-friendly, the UDAN Yatri Cafe initiative is transforming the airport experience by offering quality food and beverages at pocket-friendly prices for passengers. With items like tea for ₹10 and snacks from ₹20, the initiative aims to make air travel more accessible and passenger-friendly,” the Ministry of Civil Aviation said in a statement on X on Monday, 16 March.

The rollout of UDAN Yatri Cafes is expected to continue in phases, with more airports likely to introduce the facility in the coming months as part of the government’s efforts to improve passenger amenities and make air travel more accessible.
