Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah will launch the Land Port Management System in New Delhi on Tuesday, 9 June 2026, marking a major step towards digitised operations at India’s land ports.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said the initiative is aimed at strengthening smart border management, with a focus on improving efficiency, transparency and security in cross-border trade and passenger movement.

The Land Port Management System, or LPMS, has been described as a state-of-the-art digital platform designed to integrate operations across land ports into a unified system.

The platform will enable secure, real-time exchange of logistics and regulatory information, placing land ports closer to the digital systems already operational at airports and seaports.

The system will support end-to-end digital workflows for cargo and passenger processing. These include slot booking, payments, tracking and single-window clearances.

LPMS will also be integrated with key national platforms such as ICEGATE, ULIP and the motor vehicle ecosystem. The ministry said this will help build an interoperable, efficient and transparent border management framework.

On the same occasion, Shah will also inaugurate newly developed stakeholder accommodation facilities at the Dawki land port in Meghalaya and the Srimantapur land port in Tripura.

The ministry said these facilities will further strengthen infrastructure support for border security personnel and other stakeholders operating at land ports.

The Land Ports Authority of India, a statutory body under the Department of Border Management in the Ministry of Home Affairs, is responsible for developing and managing land ports to support trade, connectivity and regional cooperation.

LPAI currently operates 15 land ports across India’s international borders. These include Attari and Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab along the India-Pakistan border; Rupaidiha in Uttar Pradesh, Raxaul and Jogbani in Bihar along the India-Nepal border; Darranga in Assam along the India-Bhutan border; and Petrapole in West Bengal, Dawki in Meghalaya, Sutarkandi, Golakganj and Mankachar in Assam, Agartala, Srimantapur and Sabroom in Tripura along the India-Bangladesh border.

Moreh in Manipur is operated along the India-Myanmar border.

The launch of LPMS comes as the Centre seeks to use digital systems for faster cargo clearance, better passenger processing and improved coordination among government agencies and private operators at border trade points.
