Indian Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Wednesday, 8 April, reviewed the operational readiness and capabilities of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) platforms, including the Prachand Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), during a visit to the company’s facilities.
The visit included a direct operational assessment of the Prachand LCH through an in-flight experience.
In a statement on X, HAL said, “General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, visited Hindustan Aeronautics Limited today and undertook a sortie in the Prachand Light Combat Helicopter, experiencing first-hand its performance, agility and mission readiness.”
The visit also covered a broader review of HAL’s rotary and unmanned aviation ecosystem, with exposure to multiple operational facilities and platforms.
“The COAS also visited the LCH, RUAV and ALH flight hangars, gaining insights into ongoing operations and capabilities,” Hal said.
At the leadership level, discussions focused on ongoing programmes and production priorities within HAL’s defence portfolio.
The Army Chief engaged with senior HAL management on key developments and future direction.
According to the company statement, General Dwivedi “held discussions with HAL leadership, led by Dr. D. K. Sunil, CMD, HAL, along with Shri Ravi K, Director (Operations) & senior officials, and was briefed on key programmes.”
“Interacting with officers, he commended HAL for its outstanding work and contributions to strengthening India’s defence preparedness,” the company added.
