India’s civil aviation sector recorded higher passenger traffic during April 2025 – January 2026, with domestic terminals handling 28.18 crore passengers, up 1.86 per cent over the corresponding period of last year and achieving 93.44 per cent of the target, according to the latest infrastructure performance report by the Ministry of Statistics, Planning and Implementation (MoSPI).
“During April 2025 – January 2026, the domestic terminals handled 2817.84 lakh passengers which was 93.44 per cent of the target for the period and 1.86 per cent higher than the passengers handled during the corresponding period of last year,” the report said.
International terminals handled 6.87 crore passengers during the same period, registering a 7.16 per cent increase over last year and achieving 98.31 per cent of the target.

“Further, during this period, the international terminals handled 687.12 lakh passengers which was 98.31 per cent of the target for the period and 7.16 per cent higher than the passengers handled during the corresponding period of last year,” the report said.
For January 2026, domestic terminals handled 3.09 crore passengers, which was 3.29 per cent higher than the corresponding month of last year and 94.76 per cent of the monthly target.
“A total of 308.74 lakh passengers handled at domestic terminals during January 2026, which was 94.76 per cent of the target for the month and 3.29 per cent higher than the passenger handled during the corresponding month of last year,” the report said.
International passenger traffic during January stood at 0.78 crore passengers, up 7.14 per cent year-on-year and achieving 98.29 per cent of the target for the month.
