Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Odisha on 20 June, where President Droupadi Murmu will also join him during the programme in Mayurbhanj district, according to a statement by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Friday, 19 June.
The visit will begin at Pahadpur village, where the President and the Prime Minister will offer prayers at Santhali Jahera and Ho Jahera sacred groves. They will also visit the Skill Centre and Pahadpur School.
Later, both leaders will attend a programme at Rairangpur to mark the completion of two years of the Odisha government.
The theme of the programme is “Vikas ra Dhara, Odisha Sara”.
During the event, development projects worth over ₹47,600 crore will be inaugurated or launched.
These projects cover energy, industrial infrastructure, roads, drinking water, health, education, tourism and irrigation.
Major projects include the 600 MW Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project, Stage-II expansion of IB Thermal Power Station, and the Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited project at Lakhanpur in Jharsuguda.
Other key projects include a compressed biogas plant in Bhubaneswar, a bridge over the Kathajodi river linking Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, road widening works, NH-353 four-laning, irrigation projects, IGNOU Regional Centre and an indoor badminton complex at Rairangpur.
A 300-bedded District Headquarters Hospital building at Boudh, 24 Atal Bus Stands and nine Automated Testing Stations across Odisha will also be inaugurated.
The projects are expected to improve connectivity, strengthen healthcare and transport infrastructure, support energy security and generate employment opportunities across the state.
