NEW DELHI, September 21: The Ministry of Defence has signed a ₹586 crore contract with Accurate Industrial Controls Private Limited for the procurement of Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) for the Indian Army’s T-72 and T-90 tanks.
The contract was signed in New Delhi on Monday in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
The APUs will provide an alternate source of electric power for key systems on board the tanks, including the fire control system, firing circuit, gun stabilisation system and other ancillary equipment.
According to the Ministry, the indigenously developed APUs will strengthen the operational readiness, reliability and sustainability of the Indian Army’s mechanised formations.
The procurement also marks a step towards the indigenisation of critical sub-systems used in armoured platforms.
The Ministry said the programme demonstrates the role of industry-led research and development under the Make-II framework in taking indigenous solutions from development to production and induction.
The contract is also aligned with the government’s push for Aatmanirbharta in defence manufacturing and the broader Viksit Bharat @2047 vision.
The Ministry said the procurement is expected to contribute to the development of a resilient, self-reliant and globally competitive domestic defence industry.
