New Delhi, June 27: The Ministry of Defence on Saturday, 27 June, issued a clarification over social media posts linked to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s Parliament remarks on Operation Sindoor, saying parts of his 28 July 2025 address were being used out of context.
The ministry said some posts had selectively quoted one portion of Singh’s speech to suggest that he had claimed no Indian soldier lost his life during Operation Sindoor.
It rejected that interpretation and said the statement being circulated did not reflect the context in which the remarks were made.
According to the ministry, Singh’s comment in Parliament was aimed at a specific claim circulating at the time that Indian pilots had been lost during the operation.
The ministry said that claim was false and was being amplified on social media and in some sections of the media.
The clarification said Singh’s remarks were a response to that pilot-loss narrative, not a wider statement denying military casualties during the operation.
The ministry also said Operation Sindoor resulted in the neutralisation of more than 100 terrorists and Pakistani soldiers.
It added that Pakistani air bases and deployments along the Line of Control suffered major infrastructure damage during the operation.
On the issue of soldiers who died in service, the ministry said the government continues to recognise their sacrifice.
It said their names have been inscribed at the National War Memorial and that concessions in education, health and other facilities have been provided to their families and dependents.
The statement comes after online posts sought to question Singh’s earlier parliamentary remarks by linking them to casualty claims from Operation Sindoor.
