Chennai Metro Rail Limited has awarded a major electrical and mechanical systems contract for Corridor 4 of its Phase II expansion project.
The contract covers electrical, plumbing and fire protection works for eight underground metro stations between Light House and Kodambakkam. The scope also includes systems installation in the underground bored tunnels connecting the stations, as well as associated cut-and-cover sections, U-sections and ramps along the corridor.
The work has been awarded to Jakson Limited at a cost of Rs 137.08 crores. The contract includes supply, installation, testing, commissioning and training related to the electrical and mechanical systems required for the underground stations.
An agreement for the project has been formally signed by representatives of Chennai Metro Rail Limited and Jakson Limited in the presence of senior officials and technical experts associated with the Phase II project.
Corridor 4 is a key component of Chennai Metro Phase II and involves extensive underground construction across central parts of the city. The award of this contract marks another step in advancing systems-related works for the corridor’s underground stations.
