New Delhi, October 22, 2026: SRF Limited has approved an investment of approximately ₹600 crore to establish an aluminium foil manufacturing facility for battery applications at Jetapur in Madhya Pradesh. The project, to be developed through its wholly owned subsidiary, SRF Altech Limited, has a proposed manufacturing capacity of 12,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) and will be implemented in two phases, with the second targeted for completion by September 2030.
The company’s Board of Directors approved the investment at its meeting on October 21, 2026, according to a regulatory filing submitted to BSE and the National Stock Exchange of India.
The facility will be established at SRF Altech’s existing site in Jetapur, with the estimated investment divided into two phases of approximately ₹300 crore each.
According to the filing, the first phase is scheduled for completion by September 30, 2028, while the second is targeted for completion by September 30, 2030.
SRF has disclosed a proposed capacity addition of 12,000 MTPA. However, the filing does not separately specify the production capacity allocated to each phase.
The company said the investment is intended to capture growing opportunities in India’s electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage sectors by expanding its portfolio of value-added products.
The proposed facility will manufacture aluminium foil for battery applications, a material used in certain battery manufacturing processes.
The project will expand SRF’s product portfolio into battery-related materials. However, the announcement does not identify specific battery manufacturers or customers for the proposed output.
SRF said the estimated ₹600 crore investment will be financed through a combination of debt and internal accruals, using both borrowed funds and internally generated resources.
The regulatory filing lists existing production capacity and capacity utilisation as not applicable for the proposed facility.
Although the manufacturing unit will be established at SRF Altech’s existing Jetapur site, the disclosure does not identify any existing aluminium foil production capacity for battery applications at the location.
The project will be implemented in stages, with approximately ₹300 crore allocated to each phase.
However, the filing does not confirm that construction has commenced or provide a date for the start of commercial production.
It also does not disclose confirmed customer contracts, expected employment generation or separate production capacity figures for the two phases.
The board approval establishes SRF’s planned investment and manufacturing expansion, while the announced capacity and completion targets remain subject to project implementation.
Once developed, the Jetapur facility is intended to manufacture aluminium foil for battery applications in India’s electric vehicle and energy storage sectors, supporting SRF’s expansion into value-added materials for these markets.
