New Delhi, October 18, 2026: GPT Infraprojects Limited has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Alcon Builders and Engineers Private Limited, has secured a ₹134.11 crore contract from Western Railway to install and upgrade train signalling systems across four railway sections in the Ratlam Division.
The contract covers automatic block signalling, electronic interlocking modifications and digital axle counters on the Nagda–Ujjain–Tajpur, Phanda–Sant Hirdaram Nagar, Ujjain–Karchha and Mangliyagaon–Indore sections.
In a stock exchange filing dated October 17, the Kolkata-based infrastructure company said the contract was awarded by the Chief Signal and Telecommunication Engineer (CSTE) of Western Railway’s Ratlam Division.
The total contract value is ₹134.11 crore, including Goods and Services Tax (GST), while the value excluding GST is ₹113.65 crore.
According to the company, the work must be completed within 548 days of the project’s appointed date. The filing does not specify that date, so the exact completion deadline remains undisclosed.
The contract includes the survey, design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of four-aspect automatic block signalling systems on specified double-line electrified railway sections.
Automatic block signalling regulates train movements by dividing railway tracks into blocks and controlling when trains can enter them. Four-aspect signals provide drivers with indications about track conditions ahead.
The project also involves modifications to electronic interlocking systems at railway stations along the specified sections. These systems coordinate signals and track points to help prevent conflicting train movements.
In addition, the contract covers dual multi-section digital axle counters, which detect whether designated sections of railway track are occupied.
The proposed signalling upgrades involve infrastructure used to manage train movements and monitor track occupancy. However, the company has not provided estimates of any increase in train capacity, reduction in delays or other measurable operational improvements resulting from the project.
GPT Infraprojects informed the stock exchanges on October 1, 2026, that its subsidiary had emerged as the lowest bidder, or L1, for the contract. The October 17 filing confirms that the subsidiary subsequently secured the order.
The company also disclosed that its promoters and promoter-group entities have no interest in the organisation awarding the contract. It confirmed that the agreement does not constitute a related-party transaction.
GPT Infraprojects operates in railway-focused infrastructure construction and the manufacture of concrete railway sleepers. Its infrastructure business includes railway bridges, road overbridges and signalling works, while its sleeper division supplies railway markets in India and Africa.
The company reported that its net outstanding order book stood at ₹5,651 crore following the latest contract, while total order inflows for the 2026–27 financial year reached ₹1,478 crore.
Listed on the National Stock Exchange and BSE, GPT Infraprojects trades under the symbol GPTINFRA on the NSE and scrip code 533761 on the BSE.
The Western Railway contract adds signalling-related work to the company’s existing portfolio. The award covers the installation, testing and commissioning of railway signalling systems, but the disclosure does not indicate that the work has been completed or that the upgraded systems are operational.
