New Delhi, October 12, 2026: Indian Railways has opened applications for 3,548 graduate-level vacancies across train operations, commercial services, accounts and administration. Eligible candidates can apply online until November 6, 2026. The posts offer initial basic monthly pay ranging from ₹29,200 to ₹35,400, depending on the position. The recruitment also removes the typing test requirement for two categories of clerical and accounts posts.

The recruitment is being conducted by the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) under Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 06/2026 for Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC–Graduate) posts. According to the Ministry of Railways, applications opened on October 8 and will close at 11:59 pm on November 6.

Of the 3,548 vacancies, the largest number is for Goods Train Manager, with 2,750 posts. The recruitment also includes 371 posts for Senior Clerk Cum Typist, 300 for Junior Accounts Assistant Cum Typist and 127 for Chief Commercial Cum Ticket Supervisor.

These positions cover various railway functions, including goods train operations, commercial services, accounting and administrative work.

Candidates selected for the Chief Commercial Cum Ticket Supervisor post will receive an initial basic salary of ₹35,400 per month under Pay Level 6 of the Seventh Central Pay Commission. The other three categories carry an initial basic salary of ₹29,200 per month under Pay Level 5. Applicable allowances and service conditions will be governed by railway rules.

Applicants must hold a degree from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification and meet the eligibility requirements prescribed for their chosen posts. The notified age limit is 18 to 33 years as of January 1, 2027, with age relaxations available to eligible categories under government rules.

The deadline for submitting online applications is November 6, while candidates can pay the examination fee until November 8. The application modification window will remain open from November 9 to November 18, allowing applicants to make permitted corrections to their submitted forms.

The selection process includes two stages of computer-based examinations, followed by document verification and medical examinations, as applicable. Final selection will depend on candidates’ performance and fulfilment of the prescribed eligibility conditions.

An important change in this recruitment is the removal of the Computer-Based Typing Skill Test for Junior Accounts Assistant Cum Typist and Senior Clerk Cum Typist posts. According to the Ministry of Railways, candidates applying for these positions will not have to take a typing test during recruitment.

However, candidates selected for these posts are still expected to possess basic computer and typing proficiency. The ministry said these skills would be assessed after they join the service, as specified in the recruitment notification.

The recruitment also provides reservation and age-relaxation benefits for eligible candidates under applicable government rules. Candidates with disabilities may receive scribe assistance and additional examination time, subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions.

Applicants can access the detailed recruitment notification, check post-wise vacancies and review eligibility requirements through the official Railway Recruitment Boards website at https://rrb.indianrailways.gov.in.

Online applications must be submitted through https://www.rrbapply.gov.in. Candidates are advised to review the detailed notification, including post-specific requirements and examination conditions, before submitting their applications.
