Tata Power commissions 400 kV Jalpura-Khurja corridor to strengthen NCR’s power network

New Delhi: Tata Power has commissioned the second element of its Jalpura-Khurja Transmission Project in Uttar Pradesh, strengthening power infrastructure connectivity for the National Capital Region (NCR) and Noida.

The commissioned infrastructure includes a 400 kV double-circuit transmission corridor spanning 162 circuit kilometres (CKM) and a 400/220 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation at Jalpura with 1,000 MVA transformation capacity.

The project has been executed through TP Jalpura Khurja Power Transmission Limited (TPJKPTL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power.

The 400 kV transmission corridor connects Khurja and Jalpura and comprises two circuits of approximately 81 km each. The infrastructure is designed to strengthen high-voltage power transmission capacity in western Uttar Pradesh and support growing electricity demand across NCR and Noida.

The Jalpura substation enables transfer of power from the 400 kV high-voltage grid to the 220 kV network, improving the reliability and resilience of the regional transmission system.

Tata Power said the project will support the region’s expanding power requirements by enhancing transmission efficiency and strengthening grid infrastructure.

With the commissioning of the corridor and substation, Tata Power’s transmission portfolio has reached 7,900 circuit kilometres of transmission lines that are operational or under execution across India.
