Mumbai: Larsen & Toubro’s Renewables business has secured a major order to develop three Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in the Middle East, with a combined storage capacity of 6 GWh.
L&T has classified the contract as a Major Order, which falls in the company’s order-value category of ₹5,000 crore to ₹10,000 crore. The exact value of the contract has not been disclosed.
The projects will feature four-hour BESS configurations and include grid interconnections, pooling substations and underground cables as part of the execution scope.
According to L&T, the battery storage systems will support grid modernisation and renewable energy integration in the region. The solutions will incorporate liquid cooling technology aimed at improving power density, safety and operational life.
The projects are part of the growing adoption of large-scale energy storage systems, which help manage renewable power generation by storing electricity and supplying it when required.
L&T said the order reinforces its capabilities in executing integrated renewable energy infrastructure projects, including large-scale battery storage solutions.
The company’s Renewables business will execute the projects for a Middle East client as part of its clean energy infrastructure portfolio.
