New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate SEMICON India 2026 in New Delhi on September 17, with more than 500 exhibitors, over 150 international speakers and participants from more than 40 countries expected to attend the three-day semiconductor industry event.
The fifth edition of SEMICON India will be held from September 17 to 19 at Yashobhoomi, the India International Convention and Expo Centre in Dwarka, under the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem”.
The conference and exhibition is being jointly organised by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) and global semiconductor industry association SEMI.
According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the event will feature more than 500 exhibitors, including over 240 international companies, across an exhibition area of more than 15,000 square metres. It will also have six country pavilions and 10 state government pavilions.
More than 150 internationally renowned speakers are expected to participate, while delegations from over 40 countries will attend the event.
SEMICON India 2026 comes as the government moves to expand the country’s semiconductor manufacturing, design and research ecosystem. Under Semicon 1.0, 12 semiconductor projects have been approved, of which three have started commercial production.
The Union Cabinet in July also approved Semicon 2.0 with an outlay of ₹1,27,500 crore, marking the next phase of the government’s semiconductor programme.
Support for semiconductor design and innovation has also expanded, with advanced design tools being provided to more than 332 academic institutions and 105 start-ups. Another 24 start-ups have been approved under the Design Linked Incentive scheme.
The three-day programme will cover semiconductor manufacturing and technology, artificial intelligence and digital transformation, supply chains, chemicals and materials, product design, start-ups, skilling, sustainability and government initiatives.
It will also include six international country roundtables, sessions on workforce development and women in leadership, a start-up pavilion, innovation showcase, start-up pitch competition and student hackathon.
Amitesh Kumar Sinha, Additional Secretary at MeitY and CEO of the India Semiconductor Mission, said the global semiconductor requirement is expected to increase from around $1 trillion to $2 trillion, while India’s requirement is projected to rise from around $100 billion to $200 billion.
Industry leaders from companies including ASML, Applied Materials, Infineon, IBM Research, NXP, Tata Electronics, Micron, Lam Research, CG Power and Tokyo Electron are expected to participate in the event.
The government is positioning SEMICON India as a major platform for bringing together semiconductor manufacturers, technology companies, policymakers, investors, researchers and start-ups as it works to expand India’s role in the global semiconductor ecosystem.
