NHAI directs vehicle repair and puncture facilities at highway wayside amenities
The National Highways Logistics Management Limited has directed its field offices to advise Wayside Amenities lessees to prioritise the development of vehicle repair shops and puncture repair facilities along National Highways and Expressways.
According to the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, the direction has been issued to enhance ease of commuting and strengthen the availability of essential amenities for highway users.
National Highways Logistics Management Limited is a wholly owned company of the National Highways Authority of India.
The initiative is aimed at improving the overall travel experience on National Highway corridors by reducing vehicle downtime, enhancing road safety and ensuring prompt assistance to commuters and freight operators during breakdowns and emergencies.
The ministry said it has been observed that a larger number of vehicle repair and puncture repair services are required on several National Highways and Expressways.
The availability of such facilities is expected to help highway users get timely mechanical assistance during vehicle breakdowns, avoid delays and reduce potential safety concerns on long-distance road corridors.
