Indian Railways has approved additional stoppages for four trains at key stations in Haryana and Rajasthan to improve passenger convenience and local rail connectivity.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Railways on Monday, 22 June, the decision will benefit commuters, students, farmers, traders and other passengers who depend on nearby railway stations for daily and long-distance travel.
The approved stoppages include the 54085/54086 Delhi-Satrod Passenger at Patuwas Meharana station in Haryana, the 14619/14620 Agartala-Ferozpur Express at Hansi station in Haryana, the 14717/14718 Bikaner-Haridwar Express at Hansi station in Haryana, and the 12981/12982 Jaipur-Asarva Express at Bijainagar station in Rajasthan.
The ministry said the decision was taken after a detailed operational assessment and examination of passenger demand. The proposed stoppages were found operationally feasible.
Patuwas Meharana station is located on the Rewari-Bhiwani section. At present, the station is served by 3 pairs of Mail/Express trains and 2 pairs of Passenger trains. With the new stoppage of the Delhi-Satrod Passenger, residents of nearby areas will get easier access to daily rail transport.
Earlier, passengers using this train had to depend on Jharili and Charkhi Dadri stations, located around 6 km and 7 km away respectively. The new halt is expected to reduce dependence on neighbouring stations and improve first-mile and last-mile connectivity for local passengers.
