The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the widening of two national highway stretches in Telangana with a combined project length of 190.76 Km and a total capital cost of ₹7,597.16 crore.
The approved projects include the Armoor-Jagtial-Mancherial section of NH-63 and the Jagtial-Karimnagar section of NH-563.
The NH-63 section will be developed under the Hybrid Annuity Model, while the NH-563 section will be implemented under the Build-Operate-Transfer (Toll) model.
The projects will be executed in three work packages and upgraded to 4-lane standard.
The Armoor-Jagtial-Mancherial corridor passes through Nizamabad, Jagtial and Mancherial districts, while the Jagtial-Karimnagar section passes through Jagtial and Karimnagar districts.
The government said the existing stretches are facing severe congestion due to several built-up areas along the route.
These include Anksapoor, Korutla, Jagtial, Dharmapuri, Lakshettipet and Mancherial on the NH-63 corridor, and Jagtial, Potharam, Gangadhara and Karimnagar on the NH-563 section.
The proposed projects will include bypasses for built-up areas and open tolling.
They are designed for a speed of 100 Km per hour and are expected to improve travel efficiency across Nizamabad, Jagtial, Mancherial and Karimnagar districts.
Once completed, travel time between Armoor and Mancherial is expected to reduce by about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Travel time between Jagtial and Karimnagar is expected to reduce by about 45 minutes.
The projects are also expected to provide safer, faster and uninterrupted connectivity for passenger and freight traffic.
The government said the widening will help reduce fuel consumption, carbon emissions and vehicle operating costs.
According to the project details, the Armoor-Jagtial section of NH-63 will have a length of 63.600 Km, including 17.95 Km of brownfield length and 45.65 Km of greenfield length. Its total capital cost has been estimated at ₹2,471.76 crore.
