Maharashtra Chief Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal on Monday, 1 June, visited the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) headquarters and reviewed major infrastructure projects being implemented across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

The review covered Metro corridors, road and tunnel projects, multimodal connectivity initiatives and MMRDA’s first-ever Slum Rehabilitation Project, the authority said in a post on X.

Aggarwal was briefed by MMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Sanjay Mukherjee and senior officials on the progress of key projects being taken up to support the transformation of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

The Chief Secretary appreciated the progress achieved and the pace of execution across the initiatives, according to the statement.

The review comes as MMRDA continues work on multiple transport and urban infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening connectivity across the metropolitan region.

Metro corridors remain a major part of the authority’s ongoing infrastructure programme, along with road and tunnel projects designed to improve movement between key urban and suburban areas.

The review also included multimodal connectivity initiatives, which are aimed at linking different transport systems and improving last-mile access for commuters.

MMRDA’s first-ever Slum Rehabilitation Project was also part of the review, marking the authority’s direct involvement in a rehabilitation-linked urban development initiative.
