The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has floated a tender for the construction of a flyover at Ambedkar Chowk, covering the junction of Sectors 45, 46, 51 and 52 in Gurugram.

The project is aimed at easing congestion at one of the city’s busy traffic intersections and ensuring smoother vehicular movement for residents and commuters using the stretch daily.

According to a statement by GMDA, the project will be executed at an estimated cost of around ₹32 crore.

Ambedkar Chowk is a key connecting junction for traffic moving between Ardee City, Sohna Road and adjoining residential sectors.

The authority said the junction experiences significant congestion during peak hours due to rising traffic volume and rapid urban development in the surrounding areas.

“Gurugram is witnessing rapid urban growth and increasing traffic demand. The proposed flyover at Ambedkar Chowk will help improve connectivity and ensure smoother traffic movement in the city,” GMDA CEO P.C. Meena said.

As part of the project, a 900-metre-long, 4-lane flyover will be constructed from Ardee City towards Sohna Road to facilitate uninterrupted traffic movement and minimise congestion at the intersection.

Alongside the flyover, 4-lane service roads will also be developed to improve local connectivity and access for residents and commercial establishments located along the corridor.

The scope of work includes surface drainage infrastructure and footpaths to support better urban mobility and pedestrian convenience in the area.

GMDA said road safety furniture, including crash barriers, signage, road markings and other traffic safety measures, will also be installed as part of the project.

The proposed infrastructure upgrade is expected to improve traffic dispersal and reduce travel delays for commuters.

The project is targeted for completion within two years from the date of commencement of work.

Once completed, the flyover is expected to provide relief to commuters by improving travel efficiency, reducing traffic bottlenecks and enhancing connectivity across the adjoining sectors.

GMDA said it continues to work on strengthening Gurugram’s road infrastructure network through mobility projects aimed at improving traffic management and commuter convenience.

The authority has also recently floated a tender for the construction of a flyover at Dadi Sati Chowk along the intersection of Sectors 85-86 and 89-90.

In addition, GMDA is in the process of floating a tender for the development of an underpass at Millennium City Metro Station to decongest another major traffic junction in the city and support smoother traffic circulation.
