An Indian Army contingent has departed for Cambodia to take part in the second edition of the India-Cambodia bilateral military exercise, CINBAX-II 2026, scheduled from 04 to 17 May, the Ministry of Defence said on Sunday, 3 May.
The exercise will be conducted at the Techo Sen Phnom Thom Mreas Prov Royal Cambodian Air Force Training Centre (Camp Basil) in Kampong Speu Province, and will focus on company-level joint training in sub-conventional operations under the framework of Chapter VII of the United Nations mandate.
The Indian contingent comprises 120 personnel, primarily drawn from a battalion of the Maratha Light Infantry Regiment, while the Cambodian side is represented by 160 personnel from the Royal Cambodian Army.

The exercise is designed around counter-terrorism scenarios faced by United Nations peacekeeping forces, with training to include tactical drills, practical discussions and a final validation exercise.
Specialised modules such as drone operations, mortar handling and sniper tactics will also be undertaken.
The Ministry of Defence said the exercise “reflects the growing Defence Co-operation between India – Cambodia.”
CINBAX-II 2026 aims to enhance interoperability, coordination and operational synergy between the two armies, while facilitating the exchange of best practices and operational experience in semi-urban combat environments.
The exercise comes amid ongoing efforts to deepen defence ties between India and Cambodia and strengthen cooperation in addressing regional security challenges.
