The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has warned of strict action against unauthorised hoardings within its jurisdiction, stating that installation of such structures without permission will attract penalties.
At a meeting held at PMRDA headquarters in Akurdi on Thursday, 9 April, Metropolitan Commissioner Abhijit Chaudhary cautioned hoarding operators that enforcement action would be intensified against illegal installations.
The meeting, held at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Auditorium at PMRDA headquarters, was attended by hoarding association representatives and business operators from across the district.
Director of authority’s development permission department, Avinash Patil, was also present on the occasion.

During the session, PMRDA presented a demonstration of a newly developed online system aimed at streamlining the hoarding approval process.
Several key decisions were taken during the meeting.
The authority has made it mandatory for all authorised hoardings to display a QR code along with the licence number.
For handling the work related to hoarding permissions, a separate ‘Sky Signage Department’ will now be established within PMRDA.
A new online mechanism has been made operational to enhance transparency, reduce human intervention and speed up the hoarding approval process.
The authority further directed immediate removal of unauthorised and oversized hoardings that do not comply with prescribed norms.
