The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has received nine bids from highway developers for the six-laning of the Jaipur-Kishangarh section of NH-48 in Rajasthan, marking progress on a key highway upgrade project aimed at improving connectivity and traffic flow in the region.
The project involves the upgradation of around 90 Km of the existing highway and will be implemented under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode.
It was approved by the Government of India in February 2026 and is scheduled to be awarded within the current financial year.
“The project aims to transform the National Highway corridor into a semi access-controlled highway through the construction of flyovers and Vehicular Underpasses (VUPs) at major junctions, along with development of service and slip roads along the entire stretch,” the Road Transport and Highways Ministry said in a statement on Monday, 16 March.
These upgrades are expected to significantly improve traffic movement by reducing congestion points and streamlining vehicle flow on one of the key highway corridors in Rajasthan.

Upon completion, travel time between Jaipur and Kishangarh is expected to reduce from around two hours at present to nearly one hour, while also increasing the average speed of vehicles and enhancing the carrying capacity of the highway.
The project is also expected to deliver substantial road safety benefits.
The construction of flyovers and other structures will reduce conflict points at junctions will lower the incidents of road accidents, while dedicated service roads will separate local and highway traffic, improving safety for both commuters and pedestrians.
A key feature of the project is that it will be implemented without requiring any additional land acquisition, which is expected to support faster execution and reduce delays.
The upgradation of this section of NH-48 is expected to strengthen regional connectivity, improve logistics efficiency and support economic activity across Rajasthan by enabling faster and more reliable movement of both passenger and freight traffic.
