Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has signed a contract with Rdx Architects for providing consultancy services for the detailed design of an Integrated Bus Terminal along with commercial and office development at the Vadapalani Bus Depot in Chennai.
According to the metro authority, the project represents an important step towards strengthening Chennai’s urban transport infrastructure through integrated and transit-oriented development.
The proposed development at the Vadapalani Bus Depot will include a modern Integrated Bus Terminal along with commercial and office spaces.
The plan is intended to enable efficient land utilisation while improving passenger convenience and supporting organised bus operations.
CMRL said the project is planned to support smooth bus operations and provide well-organized passenger facilities integrated with commercial and office developments.

The consultancy services have been awarded to Rdx Architects at a contract value of ₹3,91,76,000. The duration of the consultancy assignment is 120 days.
“Under the scope of the assignment, the consultant will undertake preparation of detailed architectural and engineering designs including planning of passenger amenities, circulation areas, operational infrastructure for bus services, and integration of commercial and office spaces within the terminal complex to ensure functional efficiency and improved commuter experience,” the CMRL said.
CMRL stated that the design work is aimed at ensuring functional efficiency while improving the overall commuter experience at the facility.
The agreement was executed between T. Archunan, IRSE, Director (Projects), CMRL, and K. Nachiappan, Chief Executive Officer of Rdx Architects.
Senior officials of CMRL including CGMs T. Livingstone Eliazer, Rekha Prakash, and Dr. D. Jebaselwin Gladson, along with representatives from Rdx Architects, were present during the signing of the agreement.
