“Approval has been granted for the construction of a 4-lane elevated corridor on the old National Highway-91 in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, from Ramadevi to Gol Chauraha, at a cost of ₹988.30 crore,” Gadkari said.

The elevated corridor is expected to allow uninterrupted traffic movement over key intersections and railway crossings, reducing bottlenecks on the old NH-91.
“The project will reduce congestion at key urban junctions by allowing traffic to pass over the elevated road. This will significantly reduce heavy traffic jams on the old National Highway-91, thereby reducing travel time for commuters and improving road safety in the urban areas of Kanpur,” the minister said.
In a separate approval, six bridges will be constructed in Mainpuri, Farrukhabad, and Shahjahanpur districts at a total cost of ₹753.60 crore.
This includes three major bridges across the Kali, Ganga, and Ramganga rivers, along with three smaller bridges on National Highway-730C.
“Approval has been granted for the construction of 6 bridges (3 major bridges on Kali River, Ganga River and Ramganga River, and 3 minor bridges on National Highway-730C) in Mainpuri, Farrukhabad and Shahjahanpur districts of Uttar Pradesh at a cost of ₹753.60 crore,” Gadkari said.
The bridge projects are expected to strengthen regional connectivity and support access to religious and cultural sites such as Sankisa, Panchalghat, and Ramnagariya Mela locations, while also facilitating movement along the Bhind-Lipulekh corridor.
Improved traffic flow, reduced travel time, and enhanced road safety are among the key outcomes targeted through the new infrastructure.
Together, the approvals mark a major push to upgrade highway connectivity and urban mobility in Uttar Pradesh, with a focus on easing congestion, improving safety, and supporting regional economic and tourism activity.
