Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has received a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from Northern Railway for the design and construction of a new rail-cum-road bridge over the River Ganga in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
The information was provided by the company in a regulatory filing to the exchanges on Wednesday, 18 February.
The project involves the construction of New Rail Cum Road Bridge No. 11, located 50 metres downstream of the existing old Malviya Bridge near Kashi Railway Station.
The bridge will consist of an open web steel girder structure with spans of 8 x 108.5 metres and 2 x 103.3 metres.
The proposed structure is designed to accommodate four railway tracks on the lower deck and a six-lane road on the upper deck.
The scope of work also includes the construction of railway and road approaches as per the General Arrangement Drawing (GAD), along with associated Overhead Equipment (OHE) works and general electrical works in the Lucknow Division of Northern Railway.
The total project cost is Rs 12,01,35,69,000, inclusive of all taxes.
The contract is to be executed within a period of 48 months.
The project has been awarded by Northern Railway, under general contract conditions.
RVNL will execute the project in a joint venture, holding a 60 per cent share, while GPT Infraprojects Ltd. will hold the remaining 40 per cent.
