₹6,220.90 Crore NHIT offer to monetise 310 Km National Highways across Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh gets NHAI nod as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has accepted an offer from the National Highways Infra Trust (NHIT) worth ₹6,220.90 crore for the asset monetisation of two National Highway stretches spanning 310.35 Km across Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

The monetised assets include the 255.97 Km Amravati-Chikhali-Tarsod section of NH-53 in Maharashtra and the 54.38 Km Gundugolanu-Chinna-Avutapalli section of NH-16 in Andhra Pradesh.

“InvIT is playing a critical role in channelizing financial capital for further development of National Highway network across the country. With this award, total assets monetized through NHIT will be ₹49,858 crore,” NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav stated.

NHIT, an InvIT sponsored by NHAI, has so far completed four rounds of capital raising with participation from major institutional investors including CPPIB, OTPP, EPFO, NHAI, and the SBI Group.

The trust currently has more than 700 investors, while the market capitalisation of its units stands at approximately ₹28,000 crore.

NHIT units are listed on both the National Stock Exchange and the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Asset monetisation has emerged as a strategic tool in NHAI’s efforts to unlock the value of existing highway assets and attract private sector investment. By leveraging models such as Toll-Operate-Transfer (ToT) and InvIT structures, the authority has been generating funds that are being reinvested into new highway projects.

During the current financial year, total National Highway assets monetised have reached around ₹28,077 crore.

The monetisation strategy is aimed at strengthening financial sustainability while enabling private sector efficiencies and the adoption of advanced technologies, ultimately supporting improved asset quality and longer lifecycle performance across the national highway network.
