NH-167 widening between Gudebellur and Mahabubnagar in Telangana has been approved at a total capital cost of ₹3,175.08 crore, with the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs clearing the four-lane upgradation under Hybrid Annuity Mode.
The project covers 80.01 km on the Hyderabad-Panaji economic corridor and involves widening National Highway-167 to four-lane standard to address congestion, poor road geometry and increasing traffic demand across rapidly urbanising stretches.
The upgraded alignment passes through key towns including Gudebellur, Magnoor, Makthal, Marikal, Devarkadra, Jaklair, Yeligandla and Banderpally, and integrates with NH-150 and NH-167N to strengthen regional connectivity across Telangana.
It will also link three PM GatiShakti economic nodes, nine social nodes and seven logistics nodes, reinforcing the corridor’s role in freight and passenger movement.
The total civil cost, including utility shifting, is ₹1,868.90 crore, while pre-construction activities such as land acquisition account for ₹459.11 crore.
Designed for improved traffic efficiency, the corridor is expected to reduce travel delays and support smoother freight movement across the state.
The project is estimated to generate approximately 14.4 lakh person-days of direct employment and 17.9 lakh person-days of indirect employment.
Upon completion, the four-lane widening of NH-167 is expected to enhance connectivity between major economic and religious centres in Telangana, improve logistics efficiency and support long-term regional development along the Hyderabad-Panaji economic corridor.
