The strategic partnership between India and Greece is set to expand with a renewed focus on defence industrial collaboration following high-level bilateral talks held in New Delhi between Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Greece’s Minister of National Defence Nikolaos-Georgios Dendias.
A Joint Declaration of Intent was signed to strengthen defence industrial cooperation between the two countries, marking “a starting point for developing a five-year roadmap.” The initiative aims to expand the capacity of indigenous defence industries through a partnership linking India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat with Hellenic defence reforms under Agenda 2030.
The two ministers reiterated that the India-Greece strategic partnership is rooted in shared values of peace, stability, freedom and mutual respect. Discussions during the meeting covered regional peace and security while acknowledging the deepening of bilateral defence cooperation and broader strategic ties.

A Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan for 2026 was also exchanged, charting the course for future engagements between the armed forces of both countries.
Maritime cooperation emerged as another key area of convergence, with both sides highlighting alignment on important sea-related issues. Greece additionally announced the positioning of a Greek International Liaison Officer at the Information Fusion Center-Indian Ocean Region in Gurugram, signalling closer collaboration in maritime domain awareness.
During the visit, the Hellenic delegation toured key defence and industrial establishments in Bengaluru and interacted with Defence Public Sector Undertakings, industry representatives and start-ups.
