The Ministry of Railways has commissioned the doubling work of the 27.98-kilometre Churu (CUR)-Dudhwakhara (DKX) section on the Rewari-Bikaner railway line, along with automatic signalling on both Up and Down tracks. The section was commissioned on 24 January 2026.
The project involved the slewing of seven existing railway curves, a measure undertaken to eliminate two permanent speed restrictions on the route. As part of the works, one level crossing has also been eliminated, contributing to improved operational safety.
The Churu-Sadulpur (SDLP) doubling project was sanctioned in January 2024, and with the commissioning of the CUR-DKX stretch, around 50 per cent of the total section has been completed within two years of sanction.
According to the ministry, the remaining Dudhwakhara-Sadulpur section, which constitutes the balance 50 per cent of the project length, is planned to be commissioned by March 2026.
The Railways said the doubling of the line is expected to significantly enhance network capacity on the Rewari-Bikaner corridor, reduce train delays, and allow for higher-speed, more reliable and safer operations for both passenger and freight services. The project is also aimed at improving regional rail connectivity and supporting economic activity in the area.
