63 multi-level parking projects completed under Smart Cities Mission across the country; 11 more under implementation

A total of 63 multi-level parking projects worth ₹2,140 crore have been completed under the Smart Cities Mission (SCM) across the country, according to the information provided by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in the Parliament.

Under the Smart Cities Mission, 74 parking projects worth ₹2,481 crore have been taken up in 42 cities. Of these, 63 projects have been completed while 11 projects worth ₹341 crore are currently under implementation.

“Under SCM as on 01.03.2026, a total of 74 projects worth ₹2,481 Crore relating to “Multi-level Parking” were taken up in 42 cities, out of which 63 projects worth ₹2,140 Crore have been completed and remaining 11 projects worth ₹341 Crore are at implementation stage,” Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, 12 March.

City-wise data shared by the minister shows that several large parking facilities have already been delivered under the mission.

Ahmedabad has completed three projects worth ₹222 crore, while Gangtok has completed three projects valued at ₹214 crore.

Jammu has completed one project worth ₹202 crore and Bhopal has completed one project worth ₹141 crore.

Other major completed projects include two projects worth ₹103 crore in Kanpur, one project worth ₹102 crore in Srinagar, and three projects worth ₹43 crore in Jaipur.

Coimbatore and Madurai have each completed projects worth ₹42 crore, while Aligarh has completed a project worth ₹50 crore.

Several other cities have also completed parking infrastructure under the mission.

Bhubaneswar has completed two projects worth ₹76 crore, Bilaspur has completed two projects worth ₹46 crore, and Chandigarh has completed one project worth ₹38 crore.

Dharamshala has completed one project worth ₹8 crore, Faridabad one project worth ₹17 crore, and Indore one project worth ₹12 crore.

Jabalpur has completed three projects worth ₹23 crore, Raipur two projects worth ₹34 crore, Shimla one project worth ₹72 crore, Thiruvananthapuram four projects worth ₹72 crore, and Varanasi one project worth ₹17 crore.

Meanwhile, 11 projects remain under implementation across cities such as Amritsar, Dharamshala, Nagpur, Belagavi, Tirupati, Shillong, Shimla, Bilaspur and Gwalior, with a combined value of ₹341 crore.

The Smart Cities Mission, launched on 25 June 2015, aims to improve urban infrastructure and mobility through integrated urban development.

Parking infrastructure forms one component of the programme, particularly in dense commercial districts where vehicle growth has increased pressure on on-street parking.
