NEW DELHI, September 28: Delhi will take up 53 civic infrastructure projects worth ₹214.12 crore across 27 unauthorised colonies, covering roads, drains, sewerage and stormwater infrastructure in five Assembly constituencies and benefiting an estimated 1.75 lakh residents.
The projects will be implemented across Kirari, Bawana, Mundka, Narela and Nangloi Jat. Together, they cover 1,062 roads and lanes, 89.82 km of road network and 147.69 km of drainage works.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta laid the foundation stones for the works on September 27 under the Seva Sankalp campaign. According to a Delhi government statement cited in media reports, the projects are aimed at improving basic civic infrastructure in settlements that have faced persistent problems related to roads, drainage and waterlogging.
Kirari accounts for the largest share of the programme, with 27 projects worth ₹105.51 crore across 14 unauthorised colonies. The works there will cover 640 roads and lanes, 50.71 km of roads and 101.42 km of drainage network, including stormwater drainage intended to reduce waterlogging.
Bawana will receive nine projects worth ₹38.83 crore, while Mundka will get five projects worth ₹22.05 crore. Four projects worth ₹14.48 crore are planned in Narela and eight projects worth ₹33.25 crore in Nangloi Jat.
Public Works and Water Minister Parvesh Verma said the infrastructure drive would extend beyond Delhi’s main roads into unauthorised colonies. The government said paved roads and improved drainage are expected to improve local connectivity, reduce dust from damaged or unpaved surfaces and address waterlogging in the targeted areas.
