Nagpur, September 19: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari is scheduled to inaugurate the ₹997.44 crore Indora Chowk-Dighori Chowk flyover project on NH-353D in Nagpur on Saturday, with the corridor expected to ease congestion and improve traffic movement towards Bhandara and Umred.
Developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the 8.90-km project forms part of the Nagpur-Umred section of NH-353D and includes a 6.37-km elevated flyover.
The corridor connects Indora Chowk on NH-44 with Ashok Chowk, Sheetla Mata Chowk and Dighori Chowk, covering three major and 11 minor junctions.
The road beneath the elevated structure has also been developed for local traffic, while through traffic heading towards Bhandara and Umred will be able to use the grade-separated corridor.
According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the project is expected to reduce congestion, traffic stoppages and travel delays by separating through traffic from local movement.
The corridor is also expected to improve road safety, reduce fuel consumption and vehicular emissions, and provide smoother access to hospitals, bus stations and commercial areas along the route.
The inauguration is scheduled for 4:30 PM at Reshimbagh Chowk in Nagpur. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other state leaders and officials are expected to attend the event.
