Oil India Limited has signed a collaboration framework with Canada-based Petroleum Technology Research Centre (PTRC) for cooperation in carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCIS), geothermal energy and clean energy technologies.

The framework was signed at the Global Energy Show 2026 in Calgary, according to a statement issued by Oil India Limited on Thursday.

The Petroleum Technology Research Centre is a not-for-profit energy research company of the Province of Saskatchewan in Canada.

The collaboration will cover utilisation of captured CO2, including permanent storage through geological sequestration and mineralisation in geological formations.

The two sides will also work on innovative enhanced oil recovery methods aimed at reducing the environmental impact and energy use of oil and gas production.

Oil India and PTRC will use their established networks and partners to identify business opportunities in India and Canada.

The framework also includes identification of potential geothermal projects of mutual interest for study and participation.

Both sides will undertake collaborative research through PTRC’s Energy Innovation Hub lab on projects involving subsurface energy production and subsurface storage.

The collaboration will also involve research interests with mc2+ for start-ups, a platform created under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

The event was attended by Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe, India’s High Commissioner to Canada, PTRC CEO, Oil India CMD and other senior officials.
