Bengaluru: Indian space technology startup Pixxel has raised $100 million in a Series C funding round, marking the largest single funding round by a space technology company in India. The latest investment takes the company’s total funding to $195 million.

The funding round was co-led by Singapore state investor Temasek and British space-technology investor Seraphim. New investors 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment participated in the round alongside existing investors Radical Ventures, growX ventures and others.

Pixxel plans to use the fresh capital to expand beyond hyperspectral Earth observation and build capabilities across advanced sensing satellites, Earth intelligence software, sovereign space systems and satellite manufacturing.

The company plans to develop its next-generation Honeybee hyperspectral constellation, extending observations into shortwave infrared sensing, while also adding synthetic aperture radar and ultra-high-resolution optical imaging capabilities. The first Honeybee satellite is expected to launch in 2027.

Pixxel will also further develop Aurora, its Earth intelligence software platform, to combine datasets from different sensing systems into decision-ready insights. The company plans to expand its satellite manufacturing capacity in India and the United States and deepen its work on sovereign Earth observation systems for civil, defence and intelligence applications.

Over the past two years, Pixxel has deployed six Firefly satellites and launched Aurora. It has also secured contracts with NASA and the US National Reconnaissance Office and won multiple iDEX challenges from India’s Ministry of Defence.

PixxelSpace India is also leading a consortium selected by IN-SPACe to develop India’s first public-private Earth observation constellation comprising 12 satellites.
