India Post ties up with DTDC in push to scale logistics and e-commerce deliveries nationwide

The Department of Posts (DoP) under the Ministry of Communications has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with DTDC Express Limited to enhance logistics operations and support the growth of India’s e-commerce ecosystem.

The MoU was inked in New Delhi on Monday, 27 April, by Neeraj Kumar Jha, General Manager of Parcel Directorate, Department of Posts, and Abhishek Chakraborty, Chief Executive Officer of DTDC Express Limited, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.

The partnership aims to leverage DoP’s nationwide postal infrastructure along with DTDC’s logistics expertise to improve parcel delivery services across the country.

The agreement builds on an ongoing collaboration between the two entities that began in 2025.

Under the MoU, DTDC will be able to utilise the Department of Posts’ extensive network of 1.64 lakh post offices for nationwide parcel delivery, including Cash on Delivery services.

This is expected to help expand reach, particularly in remote and underserved areas.

The agreement also focuses on joint logistics operations, capacity sharing, adoption of best practices in the parcel industry and synchronisation of marketing strategies to improve operational efficiency and service quality.

Both organisations will hold quarterly review meetings to assess the progress of the partnership, ensure system integration and explore additional opportunities to strengthen the logistics network.

For DTDC, access to the Department of Posts’ network is expected to improve delivery speed and support its expansion plans in the growing e-commerce segment.

For the Department of Posts, the collaboration is expected to strengthen its parcel business, enhance service delivery and expand its role in the logistics sector.

The Department of Posts operates the world’s largest postal network, with over 1.64 lakh post offices across India, providing communication, logistics and financial services.

DTDC is an express parcel delivery company offering domestic and international logistics solutions for e-commerce and other sectors.
