India has approved 10 semiconductor manufacturing projects with a combined investment of ₹1.60 lakh crore across multiple states, forming the backbone of the country’s effort to build a resilient domestic chip ecosystem under the India Semiconductor Mission.
These projects span fabrication, packaging, assembly, testing, and specialised semiconductor infrastructure, and are expected to meet rising demand across consumer electronics, automobiles, telecommunications, aerospace, industrial systems, and power electronics.
Micron Technology Inc. in Gujarat is establishing a semiconductor manufacturing facility with an investment of ₹22,516 crore. The plant will enable assembly and test manufacturing for DRAM and NAND products and address demand from both domestic and international markets. The production capacity is around 14 million units per week.
Tata Electronics Private Limited is setting up a semiconductor fabrication facility in Gujarat with an investment of ₹91,526 crore in partnership with PSMC, Taiwan. The facility is expected to have a production capacity of about 50,000 wafer starts per month, marking one of India’s most significant chip manufacturing investments.
A second Tata Electronics facility is being established in Assam with an investment of ₹27,120 crore. The plant will use indigenous semiconductor packaging technologies and is expected to deliver a production capacity of 48 million units per day.
CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited is developing a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Gujarat with an investment of ₹7,584 crore through a joint venture with Renesas Electronics America Inc. and Stars Microelectronics, highlighting growing international collaboration in India’s chip sector.

Kaynes Technology India Limited is establishing a facility in Gujarat with an investment of ₹3,307 crore. The plant will have the capacity to produce more than 6.33 million chips per day, strengthening India’s domestic production capabilities.
Vama Sundari Investments (Delhi) Private Limited is setting up a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Uttar Pradesh with an investment of ₹3,706 crore. The project is expected to produce about 20,000 wafers per month and roughly 36 million chips per month.
3D Glass Solutions Inc. is establishing a facility in Odisha with an investment of ₹1,943 crore. The project will support glass panel substrate production, assembly, and heterogeneous integration. Installed capacity is projected at around 5,800 panels per month, 4.20 million units per month, and 1,100 units per month respectively across segments.
SiCSem Private Limited is setting up a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Odisha with an investment of ₹2,066 crore. The plant will have a production capacity of 5,000 wafers per month and a packaging capacity of 8 million units per month.
Continental Device India Private Limited is expanding its semiconductor manufacturing facility in Punjab with an investment of ₹117 crore. The unit will manufacture high-power discrete semiconductor devices with a production capacity of approximately 158.38 million units per annum.
Advanced System in Package Technologies Private Limited is establishing a facility in Andhra Pradesh with an investment of ₹480 crore. The production capacity is expected to be about 96 million units per annum.
The approved facilities collectively represent a full-stack approach from wafer fabrication to packaging, signalling India’s shift from policy ambition toward manufacturing execution.
Several proposals leverage indigenous technologies for assembly, testing, and packaging, reflecting a move toward deeper technological capability and reduced dependence on external systems.
Together, the projects are shaping a resilient semiconductor ecosystem and positioning India as a credible participant in the global chip value chain at a time when supply chains remain concentrated among a few countries.
As domestic demand accelerates and digital infrastructure expands, these investments are expected to anchor long-term industrial growth while strengthening technological sovereignty.
