Kandla, October 2: Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, has set a new national record by handling 9,63,951 metric tonnes of cargo in a single day, surpassing its previous record of 9,03,904 MT set on September 7.

The port authority announced the achievement in a post on X, describing it as a new milestone in its cargo-handling operations.

The latest record comes less than a month after DPA Kandla handled 9,03,904 MT of cargo in a single day on September 7, setting its previous national record.

The achievement adds to a series of cargo-handling and transhipment milestones reported by the port during the current financial year.

Earlier in September, DPA Kandla said it had recorded an all-time high of 12.7 million tonnes in transhipment through ship-to-ship operations up to September 1, 2026.

The port authority said the milestone reflected its growing maritime capabilities, operational efficiency and role in supporting India’s logistics ecosystem and port-led growth.

DPA Kandla had also crossed the 70.03 million metric tonne mark in cargo handling during the current financial year, becoming the fastest among India’s major ports to reach the milestone.

According to official data cited by the port, the 70.03 MMT mark was achieved 32 days earlier than in the previous financial year, while cargo traffic registered 23.02 per cent year-on-year growth.

The latest single-day record adds to DPA Kandla’s recent operational milestones in cargo handling and ship-to-ship transhipment.
