Champawat, October 19, 2026: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated 11 development projects worth ₹67.24 crore and laid the foundation stones for five additional projects valued at ₹28.76 crore in Champawat district on October 18. The programme covered 16 projects with a combined value of approximately ₹96 crore, including a newly constructed circuit house and other public infrastructure.

According to the Uttarakhand Information and Public Relations Department, the Chief Minister inaugurated the new circuit house and Devbhoomi Silver Jubilee Park during his visit. Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta also attended the programme.

The government stated that the 11 inaugurated projects have a combined value of ₹67,24,36,000, while the five projects for which foundation stones were laid are valued at ₹28,75,62,000. Together, they amount to ₹95,99,98,000, or approximately ₹96 crore.

The programme included projects that were inaugurated and others for which foundation stones were laid. The announcement does not establish that construction has begun on all five projects or that every inaugurated facility is already operational.

Among the facilities inaugurated was Devbhoomi Silver Jubilee Park, constructed at a reported cost of ₹1.37 crore. Dhami also inaugurated the newly constructed circuit house.

During the visit, the Chief Minister announced ₹10 lakh for each gram sabha in Champawat development block to support local development activities.

According to the government, the proposed funding could be used for projects based on local needs, including libraries, roads, livelihood initiatives and improvements to Anganwadi centres.

However, the announcement did not specify how many gram sabhas would receive funding, the total amount involved or when the money would be released. These village-level grants were announced separately from the 16 projects included in the ₹96 crore programme.

Dhami also announced plans to construct community buildings in Nyaya Panchayats across the district.

At the Champawat District Bar Association’s oath-taking ceremony, he announced plans for advocates’ chambers, vehicle parking and a modern electronic library.

The government did not provide budgets or construction schedules for these proposed facilities, which remain future commitments rather than completed infrastructure.

The Chief Minister also referred to a drainage plan estimated at approximately ₹66 crore to address waterlogging in Champawat.

However, the announcement did not confirm that construction had begun or clarify whether the drainage plan formed part of the ₹96 crore programme. Its estimated cost therefore cannot automatically be added to the programme’s total value.

Other infrastructure initiatives highlighted during the visit included bypass roads, multistorey parking facilities, shopping complexes and an interstate bus terminal under construction in Tanakpur.

Dhami said the government was planning Champawat’s development with the district’s infrastructure needs over the next 25 to 50 years in mind.

During his visit, he also interacted with local residents, public representatives, Anganwadi and ASHA workers, former servicemen and representatives of various organisations to hear their concerns and suggestions.

The programme marked the inauguration of 11 projects worth ₹67.24 crore and the laying of foundation stones for five others worth ₹28.76 crore. The separately announced village grants, drainage plan and community facilities remain subject to further implementation, with funding and construction timelines yet to be specified.
